Jason Hill’s notable film and television credits include the celebrated Robbie Williams biopic, Better Man, directed by Michael Gracey. He has collaborated extensively with director David Fincher on acclaimed projects such as the psychological thriller Gone Girl; the Emmy-winning series Mindhunter (Netflix); Voir (Netflix); Videosyncrasy (HBO); and Fincher’s only animated short film, Bad Travelling (part of the Emmy-winning Netflix series Love, Death, and Robots). Additional credits include Elijah Bynum’s dramatic film Magazine Dreams; Apple TV+ dramatic thriller series Dark Matter, Extrapolations, and City On Fire; Netflix documentaries Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened, The Confession Killer, and This Is A Robbery; Paramount/Showtime’s Couples Therapy; Philip O’Leary’s film The Buffalo Hunt; and Amazon Prime’s Them: The Scare.
Beyond his scoring and production work for film and television, Hill is the lead singer, guitarist, and producer for the bands Louis XIV and Vicky Cryer (which included members of The Killers, Muse, Julian Casablancas and The Voidz, Jet, and Jamiroquai). In 2011, he briefly joined The New York Dolls, playing bass on several tours after producing their final album, Dancing Backward in High Heels. Hill has also produced, written, or collaborated with an array of artists, including The Killers, David Bowie, Robbie Williams, Jet, Sky Ferreira, Brandon Flowers, Ariel Pink, The Virgins, Macy Gray, Neon Trees, The Bronx, Nick Littlemore/Luke Steele (Empire of the Sun, Pnau), and IDKHBTFM (I Don’t Know How But They Found Me). Earlier in his career, he was a member of the seminal alt-country band Convoy.
In 2015, Hill purchased a historic music studio in Glendale, originally built in the mid-1970s, and transformed it into Department of Recording and Power, one of the world’s premier recording facilities. This iconic complex, which birthed legendary hits from artists like The Beach Boys, James Brown, Barbra Streisand, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, Joni Mitchell, and Joe Cocker, has been revitalized for the next generation of influential musicians, including The Killers, Empire of the Sun, Jet, and many more.
